| Aromatherapy. The art of aromatherapy or the study of the essential oils is a fascinating and ever widening subject. |
 |
The oils, obtained from many plants their roots, stems, flowers, petals or fruits are extracted by various means and prepared in such a way that their healing properties and scents are not damaged . |
| Essential oils have been used for many centuries by the Romans and by the Greeks and the Egyptians before them. |
| More recently there has been a re-awakening as to the many benefits to be had from the use of the oils as compresses or in massage of specific areas or of the whole body. |
| The relief of stress - one of today's most common troubles and the cause of many ailments - is perhaps on of the most frequent use of aromatherapy massage. |
| There are many grades of the oils but the aromatherapist will only use the best product , the oil from the best source which has been extracted with the utmost care. The mixture or synergy of oils will be chosen after a careful consultation with the patient and
an assessment of the problem and the person and personality of the patient. |
Treatments may consist of one, two or perhaps a series of massages - sometimes the patient continues for some months after relief has been acquired for the sheer enjoyment of massage!! |
